Escudero AN ACT GRANTING PHILIPPINE CITIZENSHIP TO MIGUEL DÍAZ EXPLANATORY NOTE This bill seeks to grant Philippine citizenship to Miguel Diaz, conferring all the rights and privileges, as well as duties and obligations thereto as provided under the Constitution and existing laws. Born in Madrid in 1966 to a Spanish Father and Filipino Mother, Miguel Díaz had been heavily influenced by Filipino culture from a very early age. This exposure to Filipino culture had culminated in a decision to reside in the Philippines in 2012. Since then, Miguel Diaz and his household have been actively involved in worthwhile social and cultural undertakings in the country. He has undertaken feeding and educational programs and relief efforts in distressed communities, particularly during the pandemic. More notably, Miguel Díaz has been active in promoting the country in the world of motorsports - bagging the Toyota Vios Cup Championship in 2015 and later brandishing our flag in prestigious World Rally Championship stages in Monaco, Finland, Sardegna and Acropolis just to name a few. Moreover, Miguel Diaz has participated in efforts to repatriate treasured pieces of art, furniture and books such as those painted by noted Filipino artists Lorenzo Guerrero, Félix Resurrección Hidalgo and Juan Luna; and those exhibited at the Palacio de Cristal in Madrid during the Exposición General de las Islas Filipinas in 1887, among others. In light of his meaningful contribution to the Filipino people, this bill is filed for Congress' immediate consideration and approval. FRANCIS G. ESCUDERO

Escudero AN ACT GRANTING PHILIPPINE CITIZENSHIP TO MIGUEL DÍAZ Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:
Section 1. Miguel Díaz is hereby granted Philippine citizenship with all the rights,
2 privileges and prerogatives, as well as the duties and obligations appurtenant thereto, under the Constitution and the laws of the Republic of the Philippines.
Sec. 2. Miguel Díaz shall take the Oath of Allegiance to the Republic of the
Philippines before an officer duly authorized to administer the same. The Oath of 6 Allegiance shall be registered with the Bureau of Immigration.
Sec. 3. Upon registration of the Oath of Allegiance, the Bureau of Immigration
shall issue a Certificate of Naturalization to Miguel Diaz who shall thereupon enter into the full enjoyment of Philippine citizenship.
Sec. 4. This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the
Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation. Approved,
