CAYETANO AN ACT GRANTING PHILIPPINE CITIZENSHIP TO ALEXIA MELANIE BLANCO LLACUNO EXPLANATORY NOTE This proposed bill seeks to grant Philippine citizenship to Alexia Melanie Blanco Lacuno, a talented football player whose dedication and athletic excellence make her a valuable addition to the Philippine women's national football team, the Filipinas. Born in Valladolid, Spain, Llacuno remains deeply connected to her Filipino heritage through her mother, who was born and raised in the Philippines. This instilled in her a profound appreciation for Filipino culture and values, fueling her ambition to represent the country on the international stage. She brings invaluable international experience as a professional player for CA Osasuna Femenino, Spain's second-tier league. During the 2023-2024 season, she demonstrated strong offensive capabilities, contributing goals and consistent performances that will aid in elevating the national team in its competitive pursuits. Her commitment to join the Philippine women's football team became evident when she actively participated in the identification camp held in Orange County, California, leading to her selection for the national training pool. This reflects not only her high skill level and work ethic but also her sincere desire to contribute meaningfully to the Filipinas' continuing ascent in football.
Her passion and discipline position her as a significant asset to the national program, especially as the Filipinas continue to achieve more historic feats for the nation. In view of the foregoing, the approval of this bill is earnestly sought. Pia S. Caytano N PIA S. CAY TANO
