Schair Offer of the Scroctarp TWENTIETH CONGRESS OF THE DEC 15 P5:42 REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES First Regular Session ) SENATE RECEIVED BY Senate Bill No. 1613 INTRODUCED BY SENATOR CHRISTOPHER LAWRENCE "BONG" T. GO AN ACT GRANTING PHILIPPINE CITIZENSHIP TO MATTHEW JAMES RAMOS EXPLANATORY NOTE Matthew James Ramos, a 23 year old, a Filipino-American wrestler, born in Naperville, Illinois. Matthew, traces his Filipino roots from his father, Crisante Holanday Ramos. A resident of Barangay Poblacion Basista, Pangasinan. Matthew has expressed his earnest intention to become a naturalized Filipino citizen in order to proudly represent the Philippines in international wrestling competitions. His desire to carry the Philippine flag on the global stage reflects not only his personal affinity for his Filipino roots but also his commitment to contribute to the nation's sports development. The Philippines is a sports-loving nation that continues to invest in nurturing athletes who can bring pride and honor to the country. Wrestling, while still emerging as a mainstream sport locally, has shown increasing promise in recent years. The inclusion of highly skilled athletes such as Matthew James Ramos can significantly elevate the Philippines' competitiveness in regional and world-level tournaments. In this light, granting Philippine citizenship to Matthew also aligns with the country's long-standing policy of welcoming individuals of Filipino lineage who wish to serve the nation in their professional capacities. Several athletes of Filipino descent, upon naturalization, have successfully brought international medals and recognition to the
Philippines. Matthew's naturalization is therefore viewed not only as a reinforcement of our national sports program but also as an opportunity to further strengthen our presence in international wrestling. In view of the foregoing, the immediate passage of this bill is earnestly sought. SENATOR CHRISTOPHER LAWRENCE "BONG" T. GO
