Sitio Timoga is one of the thirty-five (35) sitios of Barangay Buru-un in Iligan City. It has immense potential for tourism for its enjoyable panoramic views and cold spring resorts, collectively known as the Timoga Springs, which are located along the coastal highway. This bill seeks to declare Sitio Timoga in Barangay Buru-un in the City of Iligan, Province of Lanao del Norte, an ecotourism zone to be known as the Timoga Ecotourism Zone. Declaring the sitio as an ecotourism site will generate not only community business opportunities but also job opportunities to the residents of the area. It will also ensure the sustainable use, development, management, protection, and conservation of Sitio Timoga. In view of the foregoing, the passage of this bill is earnestly sought. free h. SEC. 3. Tourism Development Plan. - Within one (1) year after the approval of

this Act, the DOT shall, in coordination with the local government units of the City of Iligan and agencies of the government, prepare a tourism development plan involving the construction, installation, and maintenance of appropriate facilities and infrastructure that shall enhance tourism in the area. Provided, That the development plan shall ensure the preservation and conservation of the natural beauty and resources of the area shall conform with the concept of ecotourism as provided in the national ecotourism strategy jointly issued by the DOT and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

SEC. 4. Implementation of the Tourism Development Plan. - The DOT and its

attached agencies shall take immediate steps to implement the tourism development plan that suits the natural characteristics of Sitio Timoga in Barangay Buru-un, Iligan City and incorporate the same in its tourism development program for the ensuing calendar year. It shall also include the Timoga Ecotourism Zone in all its national, regional, and local promotion programs.

SEC. 5. Appropriations. - The amount necessary for the implementation of this

Act shall be charged against the annual General Appropriations Act and internally generated funds of the DOT.

SEC. 6. Implementing Rules and Regulations. - Within sixty (60) days from the

effectivity of this Act, the Secretary of Tourism shall, in consultation with the local government units of the City of Iligan, promulgate the necessary rules and regulations for the effective implementation of this Act.

SEC. 7. Repealing Clause. - All laws, rules, regulations, proclamations, executive

orders, or parts thereof, inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are repealed, amended, or revised accordingly.

SEC. 8. Effectivity. - This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its

publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation. Approved,
