No. 8470 BY REPRESENTATIVES AQUINO, GATO AND SUANSING (M.A.) AN ACT UPGRADING THE BUTUAN MEDICAL CENTER IN THE CITY OF BUTUAN, PROVINCE OF AGUSAN DEL NORTE, INTO A LEVEL Ill HOSPITAL TO BE KNOWN AS THE BUTUAN GENERAL HOSPITAL, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. The Butuan Medical Center in the City of Butuan, Province

of Agusan del Norte, is hereby upgraded into a Level Ill hospital to be known as the Butuan General Hospital (BGH), which shall be under the direct supervision and control of the Department of Health (DOH).

SEC. 2. The authorized bed capacity of the BGH shall be increased from

one hundred fifty (150) to three hundred (300) beds. Any future increase in bed capacity shall be consistent with the hospital development plan that shall be prepared by the DOH.

SEC. 3. The existing professional healtn care services and facilities of the

BGH shall also be upgraded to conform with and be commensurate to the increase in bed capacity as provided for in Section 2 hereof. nurses, and upe existine, shal at to ticr8a, cores pondina doctors,.

SEC. 5. The Secretary of Health shall, in consultation with the Medical

Center Chief of the BGH, determine the additional positions required for the operation of the BGH, subject to applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Norte, formulate a transition plan for the renationalization of the BGH. The transition period for the renationalization shall commence immediately upon approval of this Act.

SEC. 7. The Secretary of Health shall immediately include in the

Department's program the implementation of this Act, the funding of which shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

SEC. 8. If any provision of this Act is declared unconstitutional, the

remaining parts or provisions not affected shall remain in full force and effect.

SEC. 9. All laws, executive orders, issuances, rules and regulations

consistent with this Act are hereby repealed or modified accordingli

SEC. 10. This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in
