MERCADO-REVILLA, LAZATIN, MARQUEZ, LABADLABAD, FERRER (A.), OUANO-DIZON SAGARBARRIA, ESCUDERO, ALANO, PLEYTO, RODRIGUEZ (E.), GONZALES (A.M.), VERGARA, GONZALES (C.S.), LACSON AND SALCEDA AN ACT ALLOWING THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION THE FLEXIBILITY TO DETERMINE THE PEDAGOGICAL APPROACHES TO BE IMPLEMENTED IN THE BASIC EDUCATION CURRICULUM, AMENDING FOR THE PURPOSE SECTION 5 OF REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10533, OR THE "ENHANCED BASIC EDUCATION ACT OF 2013° Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:
SECTION 1. Section 5 of Republic Act No. 10533, or the "Enhanced Basic
Education Act of 2013," is hereby amended to read as follows: "SEC. 5. Curriculum Development. - x x x. "x xx. "The DepED shall adhere to the following standards and principles in developing the enhanced basic education curriculum: "(a) xXX "(b) xXX "(c) xxx "(d) xxx "(e) xxx "(f) XXX
"(g) The curriculum shall [use the spiral progression] EMPLOY THE approach DEEMED MOST EFFECTIVE BY THE DEPED to ensure mastery of knowledge and skills after each level: PROVIDED, THAT THE CURRICULUM AND APPROACH SHALL BE SUBJECT TO PERIODIC REVIEW OF NOT LESS THAN ONCE EVERY FIVE (5) YEARS, UNLESS COMPELLING CIRCUMSTANCES WARRANT AN EARLIER REVIEW, TO DETERMINE THEIR RELEVANCE AND EFFECTIVENESS IN ACHIEVING THE EDUCATIONAL GOALS; and "(h) xxx."
SEC. 2. All laws
inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed or amended accordingly.
SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the
Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation. Approved,
